Privacy policy
Norn is a Shopify app that reads a merchant’s size chart and recommends each shopper their size on the product page. This policy explains, plainly, what data Norn touches, where it lives, and what we do (and don’t do) with it. If anything here is unclear, write to [email protected].
The short version
- Your size charts are stored in your own Shopify data, not ours.
- Shopper body measurements are stored in your Shopify customer profiles. You own them, and they stay portable and exportable.
- Norn matches measurements to charts server-side and never exposes raw measurements on the page.
- We do not sell personal data, and we don’t bill per shopper or per quiz, so there’s no incentive to hoard it.
Who this covers
Two groups: the merchant who installs Norn on their Shopify store, and the shopper who uses the “Find my size” quiz on that store. Norn is a data processor acting on the merchant’s behalf; the merchant is the controller of their shoppers’ data.
What we collect, and why
From merchants
When you install Norn we receive your store domain, the contact details Shopify shares on install, and the size charts you upload. Norn reads them into a structured sizing grid, which you review before it goes live.
From shoppers
When a shopper completes the quiz, the body measurements they enter (for example chest and sleeve) are saved to that shopper’s Shopify customer profile so their size is ready next time. Norn stores the matching result, not a separate copy of the raw measurements, on its own servers.
How chart reading works
To turn an uploaded image or PDF into a sizing grid, Norn sends the chart to a third-party model provider (Anthropic) to read it. Charts are sizing data, not personal data. The grid Norn reads is returned to you to review and publish; it is not used to train any model.
Where your data lives
Charts live in Shopify’s native data on your store. Shopper measurements live in your Shopify customer profiles. Norn’s own database holds the minimum needed to run the recommendation: store and chart references, plan usage counts, and the matching logic. It’s hosted on infrastructure in the United States. Because measurements stay in your Shopify data, there is nothing for you to migrate if you leave: uninstalling Norn leaves your charts and customer profiles intact.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent personal data.
- We never charge per shopper or per quiz, so we have no reason to accumulate shopper records.
- We never expose a shopper’s raw measurements in the storefront, only the resulting size.
Our website
This marketing site (nornfit.com) is separate from the app. It uses cookieless, privacy-first analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) for aggregate page metrics, and a business-visitor identification service to help us understand which companies are evaluating Norn. None of this touches merchant or shopper data from the app, and nothing on this site is sold or rented.
Data retention & deletion
Norn honours Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks. When a shopper requests their data or asks to be redacted, or when a store is uninstalled, the corresponding records on Norn’s side are returned or deleted within the windows Shopify requires. Merchants can request deletion of all Norn-held data for their store at any time by writing to us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. Shoppers should direct these requests to the store they shopped with; merchants can reach us directly and we’ll assist as the processor.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify merchants in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
